Safety firstUnload the gun and remove the magazine. Check the chamber twice. Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction the whole time.
  1. Lay a sheet of plain white paper on a dark tablePrinter paper is perfect. A dark wood or black surface makes the paper easy to find.
  2. Set the gun flat in the middle of the sheetLengthwise along the paper, with white showing all the way around. Leave on any optic or light that will be in the case.
  3. Use overhead room lights, no flashAvoid a lamp off to one side or direct sun. Both cast shadows that change the outline.
  4. Hold the phone flat, straight aboveAbout 14 to 18 inches up. Center the bubble and line the paper up with the guide.
